Rescuers have recovered the bodies of 11 coal miners who died after a methane gas explosion caused a mine collapse in Balochistan, officials reported Monday.

According to Abdul Ghani, a mine inspector, search efforts are still underway to locate a 12th miner who has been missing since Thursday’s collapse.

In a separate incident, two more miners were killed on Sunday when another coal mine collapsed in Harnai district of Balochistan. These fatalities highlight the continuing risks faced by workers in the region’s coal mining industry.

In addition to the mining disasters, security forces recently rescued eight of the 16 miners kidnapped by militants in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat. An operation is still underway to rescue the remaining miners.
