Retired senior officers in the Pakistani army on Thursday filed an application in a Rawal Pindi Responsibility Court and sought permission to meet the imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf founder of Central Prison Adiala.
The four applicants include Major General (Retd) Masood Burki, Lieutenant General (Retd) Zahid Akbar, General Bill (Retd) Sikandar Afzal and Lieutenant General (Retd) Farooq Khan.
The 71-year-old cricketer-facing politician has been behind pillars since August 2023, after he was booked in several cases ranging from corruption to terrorism since his radiance from power via the opposition movement without Trust in April 2022.
In their plea, which was filed through lawyer Ahsan Ayaz Khan, the Army Officers quoted that they had a long connection to the PTI founder.
“It is necessary to meet the PTI founder to discuss some important questions,” said the retired army officers.
They sought permission to meet the former prime minister they called on the right to arrange their meeting with Khan as soon as possible to discuss “important national questions,” they added.
The petition was filed before the court of ATC judge Amjad Ali Shah.
