Gaines said her sister is a big fan of Biles, but the social media post of the Olympic Greats aimed at the former NCAA All-American swimming stunned her.
“Then I saw her this morning and she had almost tears in her eyes with this internal dilemma that she was facing,” Gaines said. “She looks up to me as much as I would imagine that many younger sisters are doing against their older sisters. She always says, ‘I will be like you.’ She is as fit as can be.
“… but she loves Simone Biles and she saw me this morning and she’s like ‘Riley, just like, I thought, in guys were on the same team. I thought you and Simone fought for the same things and reinforced and promoted the idea of women in sports what it looks like.’ And she said, ‘It’s clear, you’re not.’ She said it was her whole fitness center that could talk about – how terrible Simone Biles treated me and the message she sent to the young girls.
Biles went after Gaines when the justice of women’s sports lawyer responded to a transnry pitcher competing in the Minnesota State Softball Championship.

“@Riley_gaines_ You are really sick, all this campaign because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser,” wrote Biles on X. “You need to uplift the trans community and maybe find a way to do sports inclusive or create a new Avenue where Trans feel safe in sports. Maybe an urge category in all sports !!
“But instead … You are bullying them … One thing is definitely that no one in sports is safe with you around !!!!!”
Gaines responded to Biles’ attack.
“This is so disappointing. My roof is the least controversial acquisition of the planet,” wrote Gaines in response to Biles’ post. “Simone Biles is a man-apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams? Didn’t have it on my bingo card.
