Rawalpindi:
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), which acts as the executive agency, has announced that over 70 percent of Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project has been completed.
The project imagines the development of logistics and education centers, a health town, dry harbor, business nodes, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, recreational parks and housing communities along both sides of the corridor. A special meeting at Ring Road Economic Zones was recently held at RDA, chairman of Director -General Kinza Murtaza. In her address, she emphasized the transformative impact of the project and emphasized that it would not only relieve traffic congestion in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, but also give residents a cleaner, healthier and safer environment.
She added that the initiative would stimulate the regional economy, create new employment opportunities and improve citizen facilities while assuring participants that the construction would be completed.
OIC Senior Advisor Professor Dr. Shahid Mahmood paid tribute to the project as a long -awaited necessity for Twin Cities and noticed that it would act as a catalyst for growth, especially in the southwestern expansion areas of Rawalpindi.
He recommended that the creation of special economic zones (SEZs) be supplemented with modern urban planning, enforcement of green building codes and urban renewal measures to permanently limit illegal interventions.
He further confirmed that RDA would continue to support business and encourage the private sector involvement, and emphasized that Pakistan’s financial challenges could best be treated through increased private investment and promoting exports.
He assured that investors in Ring Road Economic Zones would be provided with any possible facility.
Former Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi also spoke at the meeting and noticed that the primary goal of the Ring Road project was to strengthen financial connections and improve the transport efficiency between Twin Cities. The meeting attended further Director -General Rda Mansoor Ahmed Khan, Chief Planner, CEO MP&T, CEO Building Control, Director Engineering and other senior officials.
