Airyn, daughter of Robert de Niro, has recently come out as a transgender.
Oscar -winner in an interview with Entertainment tonight, threw his weight behind his child’s decision.
“As long as they don’t hurt themselves, do something that is destructive or something similar, you have to support them. Period,” he said.
The 29-year-old previously revealed his identity as a trans woman in an interview with them.
At the time, the godfather’s actor shared a message of full support for his daughter who said, “I loved and supported Aaron as my son, and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter. I don’t know what the great deal is. I love all my children.”
Robert’s constant support was visible in Airyn’s interview when she said, “Of course, no parent is perfect, but I am grateful that both my parents agreed to keep me out of the limelight. They wanted it very private.”
“They’ve told me they wanted me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible,” she concluded.
Together with Airyn, Robert has six children. He has married twice.
