Robert Pattinson has shared his thoughts about his Die my love The nature’s helplessness around his wife’s after birth struggle.
Die my love, Based on Ariana Harwiczs 2017 novel with the same name follows Jennifer Lawrence’s new mother’s struggle with depression and psychosis.
Both Pattinson and Lawrence could understand their characters’ situation and be new parents themselves.
The Twilight star noted that as a man, “trying to find out what your role in the relationship is afterwards is incredibly difficult,” explaining that his character is a common guy who does not “have the linguistic” to support his wife.
“As he is just a guy. He doesn’t seem to be the guy who looks at Tiktok wheels of parents and so,” he explained.
“He just hopes the relationship will return to what it was and don’t understand why this is happening to them, why this penetrating has gone into this relationship. I guess it’s a fear that everyone has as soon as they have a child,” he added.
When he reflected on his usual choice of characters to play, he noticed that his IE my love character is the opposite of what he usually plays.
“I’m attracted to characters that are incredibly grinding and quite unclear, but Jackson was a normal guy,” said Robert Pattinson. “When you are dealing with someone who goes through the post-partum or any kind of mental illness, you try to deal with her insulation and try to find out what your role in the relationship is and tries to hold on.”
