Roborock has just introduced an innovative new robot vacuum cleaner system – and it looks seriously good

  • The Roborock Saros 20 Sonic has a wide, flat mop pad that vibrates and applies downward pressure
  • Uniquely, it can kick out to the side for complete coverage
  • Pressure and water can be adjusted independently

The Saros 20 Sonic is one of a number of new Roborock robot vacuums I’ve been able to check out at CES 2026. It’s an upgraded version of the popular Saros 10, and while it might not have the immediate wow factor of the Rover, what with actual legs(!), it still made me do a double-take when I saw it in action.

The reason is the mop system. Instead of two rotating discs or a roller, it has a flat, D-shaped pad that extends almost completely from edge to edge, giving an impressively wide mopping area.

More than that, it can kick out to one side when it senses the edge of a room and gets right up to the edge. As far as I know, this is the only robovac with this style of mop pads that can do this trick – D-shaped pads are always fixed in place.

Unlike other robotic vacuum cleaner methods, there is no gap or limit that the mop pad cannot reach. It promises a cleaning that is both efficient and precise.
