Rory McIlroy’s finish at Torrey Pines this weekend did not go well, and when a fan criticized his caddy, it pressed the wrong button.
McIlroy fell on the leaderboard at Genesis Invitational after some bad putting, leaving him T-17th to the tournament of 3 under when the final scorecard was signed.
Well, a fan was heard shouting, “guilt your caddy”, according to golf reporter Dan Rapoport.

“Close f — up,” Rapoport said that McIlroy was repeating.
The fans’ call to McIlroy came after a missed 12-foot putt that went straight past the hole to the right of a unanswered birdie.
McIlroy’s Caddy, Harry Diamond, has been with PGA Tour Star since 2017. Their relationship as childhood friends runs deeper.

The matches for McIlroy on the Green came on Saturday when he finished last in shots that were achieved for the day. And there were no major adjustments in his last round on Sunday.
To put, however, has been a big sticky point for McIlroy since his disastrous meltdown at the 2024 US Open, which Bryson Dechambeau eventually won.
McIlroy missed two short putts in the final round of Pinehurst # 2, and these mistakes led him to miss his closest chance on his first major since 2014.

Of course, Diamond was brought into the conversation for the readings on these putts, as well as a club selection on par-3 15 hole in the final round that led McIlroy to beat it over the green. He ended with a bogey there.
“You know it’s definitely unfair,” McIlroy said via Golf Week for defense of Diamond after the US Open finish.
“But just because Harry isn’t so vocal or loud with his words like other caddies doesn’t mean he doesn’t say anything and that he doesn’t do anything. I just wish you know you know these guys that criticize it when things Don’t go my way, they never say anything good when things go my way.

McIlroy also won earlier this year and went home AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am with a 21-under finish to beat Shane Lowry with two strokes. McIlroy took home $ 3.6 million on the PGA Tour Signature event.
