‘RS20B Not enough’: Mayor Ripper Federal Karachi -Plan

Karachi:

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab criticized the federal government for announcing RS20 billion for Karachi and termed it as a “lollipop” compared to the city’s actual need for RS200 billion and said those in Islamabad cannot solve Karachi’s problems. He made the comments while talking to the media after inaugurating Imam Mehdi Park and Sports Ground in the New Rizvia Society.

This city requires consistent work at the local level, “he said, adding that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will spend RS28 billion on development this year, while another RS10 billion has been awarded to project projects.

The mayor said that the 5.5 targets, once a trash can, has been transformed into a modern recreational facility with a hiking trail, football and cricket seats, floodlights and other facilities. “Where there was waste, there are green surroundings today. Green spaces are a continuous charity and this park is a gift to the citizens,” he added.

Wahab said large projects are underway all over the city during the vision of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, including BRT on University Road, Sewerage and Draining Upgrades and Completion of Flyover and Underings.

By rejecting opposition criticism, the mayor said, “Our press conferences are not based on accusations but on performance. We have delivered without crying over the lack of powers.” He promised to continue to fulfill promises to make Karachi “a hub of development and prosperity.”
