Electricity consumers get a power tariffrelief of RS4.0349 per year. KWH in the bill for July, according to the decision made by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Wednesday about a petition moved by K-Electric (KE).
KE’s petition related to preliminary monthly fuel charges (FCA) for April 2025, which indicates a relief of RS4,0349 per year. KWh to be transferred to customers in the metropolis in their monthly bills for July 2025.
Fuel tax adjustments are held by utilities due to global variations in fuel prices used to generate electricity and the changes in generation mix. These costs are reflected in the customer’s bills after NEPRA’s control and approval.
Customers also benefit from negative FCA in their bills when global fuel prices fall. Prices charged to the customer’s bills are determined by NEPRA and notified by the federal government.
According to the NEPRA decision, the FCA must apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic protected consumers, electric vehicles stations (EVCs) and prepaid electricity consumers in all categories that chosen pre -paid customs duties.
NEPRA has so far retained an amount of RS800 million with regard to adjustments due to partial load, open cycle and degradation curves along with start -up costs according to NEPRA’s decision on the generational star riff for the control period July 2023 and from FCA for April 2025, which must be adjusted against the pending requirements of KE to ensure that the consumer is not imposed on the consumer.
