RS600M corruption found in the DASU project

Islamabad:

The Senate Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday discovered MEGA corruption in DASU Hydropower Transmission Line Project, which called for a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities, including the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The committee, who met with its chairman Senator Saifullah Abro in the chairman, was informed that the project contract was awarded on the basis of a letter from the Engineering Development Board (EDB) in 2015, while the National Engineering Services Pakistan (NSPAK) presented incorrect numbers.

The President expressed anger over the alleged corruption in the project amounted to RS600 million. “How could the project be given to a company based on a letter,” he raised the question. “It’s the responsibility of all institutions to investigate it.”

The committee was informed that NaSpak presented incorrect numbers under the bidder’s control, and Nespak -Manager Director’s confessed for the wrong numbers. The committee directed action against the wrong numbers presented by Norwegian officials.

“Deleted from the Department of Power [in this issue] must be examined. This case should be investigated by NAB and FIA, “Abro said to the committee.” The officials who gave the wrong numbers had to end, ”he added.
