RS68.7B Karachi-lahore highway project referred to ECNEC

The Federal Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday was chairman of a meeting of the Central Development Working Party (CDWP), which approved three development projects and recommended four for ECNEC for further consideration and approval.

The forum approved a revised project, namely “Action to strengthen the benefit of inclusive and responsive educational program (TA component)” at a price of RS1383.48 million.

CDWP referred to a project, namely “Establishing the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research, Lahore” worth RS74,920,140 million to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for further consideration. The project is proposed to be funded through the provincial ADP.

A revised project related to the energy sector, namely the “Harpo Hydropower Project (34.5 MW)” was referred to ECNEC with the revised costs of RS34,340,185 million.

Two projects related to transport and communication, namely “Construction of 8-Banes Overhead Bridge at the Imamia Colony Railway Crossing Shahdara (N-5)” with the revised costs of RS4,673,137 million were approved at the meeting.

Another revised project at the meeting, namely “Soil uptake, affected properties Compensation and relocation of utilities for the construction of 959 kilometers long Karachi-Lahore highway (KLM) (excluding 136 km of M-9 and 57 km of M-4 completed” worth RS68,739,930 million was referred to ECNEC for further consideration.

A project, namely “Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project (BWRDSP) for Zhob and Mula River Basin (revised)” was referred to ECNEC with the revised costs of RS49,901,411 million.

The forum also awarded concept glaring to explore international funding for five concept glaring proposals, including three agricultural -related financing proposals from Balochistan.
