Jon Rahm continued his excellent game for Team Europe in the 2025 Ryder Cup on Bethpage Black on Saturday.
Rahm won both his matches to help deliver two of the 5 ½ points Europe secured on Friday. On Saturday, Rahm had a little more magic in store for the eighth hole in the morning session.
Rahm’s partner, Tyrrell Hatton, hit his tee shot on par-3 eighth hole widely of the green and right on the edge of the bunker. The ball was embedded in the rough and Rahm had to stand well under the ball in a bunker.

Rahm dug out the ball beautifully as it landed just as the green began and rolled right into the hole for a miracle birdie. Rahm knew it was good right away when he walked out of the bunker and pointed to celebration before the ball fell into the hole.
Team United States Xander Schauffele had a chance to answer Rahm’s sensational shot with its own chip. Schauffele’s teammate, Patrick Cantlay, also hit a shit -tee shot that left SchaUffele in the rough.

Schauffele almost matched Rahm as he just missed cutting for Birdie too, but eventually Team USA lost this hole and Team Europe left the eighth hole in the match.
Rahm’s shots were especially crushing for Team USA because Cantlay and Schauffele had just tied the match after winning the fifth and seventh holes. Rahm and Hatton won the first two holes and took a quick 2-up lead to begin the second day of action.

Rahm’s amazing shoots broke every momentum Schaugffele and Cantlay had built. At this point, Rahm and Hatton remain one through 11 holes.
