Farmingdale, new – Everyone has a plan until they are punched in the face and that’s exactly what happened to Team USA Friday morning on Bethpage Black.
For the first time in Ryder Cup history, Team Europe won each of the first three games on American soil to take an early 3-0 lead (Europe needs 14 points to preserve the cup).
The last five games of the day were linked to 2.5-2.5, but Europe is just where they will be.

After the first three games of the day did not even reach the 16th hole, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele were capable of Birdie 18 to save the morning and seize a point.
The afternoon session looked like it was going the US’s way, but Tommy Fleetwood cemented himself as a Ryder Cup legend. Down on a hole, Fleetwood Birdied 14 and then gave himself, and Justin raised a 1-up lead with another Birdie on the 16th Rose Birdie on 18 globe Europe’s fifth point, shortly after another dominant victory over Jon Rahm.
Hometown Kid Cameron Young and Justin Thomas, who lost with Bryson DeChambeau in the morning, took a dominant 6 & 5 victory over Ludvig Aberg and Rasmus Hojgaard. Cantlay and Sam Burns came back from two down to halve the last match of the day.
Rahm and Fleetwood combined to walk 4-0-0 on Friday-yes, the same Fleetwood who never even won a PGA Tour event until a month ago, but is now 9-3-2 in his Ryder Cup career. But Team Europe-captain Luke Donald praised Brit for being a “world-class” golfer.

“It took him some time and had to go through a few options that slip with certainty, but I think you know, for Tommy, he wraps it in such a positive way. I think if you see it in a positive way, those who let go, it only makes you stronger,” Donald said after Friday’s acting.
“I think Tommy, he’s a guy who just loves to be around the team. He loves to contribute to that team. Yes, he’s a nice player to play with. I think he’s at the top of the list of many guys on the team people want to play with.”
At the same time, Scottie Scheffler and Dechambeau combined to go 0-4-0, with Scheffler, World # 1, never even get to the 17th hole.
The United States now has to mount a comeback if they want to avoid being the first team to lose at home since they did in 2012. No one has won back to the back Ryder Cups since Europe won three from 2010 to 2014.

Day 2 goes off at 1 p.m. 07:10 one to begin another 11-plus hour golf.
