Karachi: The case of the torture of a young man in the Intehad Commercial Area of ​​Defense Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi took an unexpected turn on Thursday when the victim, Sudheer, appeared in court and said he had pardoned the suspects and wanted to pursue any charges against them.

Earlier this week, the legal magistrate South Court had detained two suspects, Salman Farooqi and Owaish Hashmi, in police custody for two days in connection with the assault that drew widespread public indignation.

The case against the suspects was registered at Gizri Police Station on the complaint of an eyewitness named Saleem. He said a minor collision took place on May 31 between an SUV and a motorcycle near the ITTHAD advertising in DHA -Phase VI.

After the accident, an apology was also offered by the motorcyclist and his sisters.

However, Farooqi reportedly instructed his associates to with power to withhold the motorcyclist inside his vehicle, where he was beaten, threatened with gun and humiliated. The victim’s sister, who was present, was also allegedly pushed despite her pleas.

Several spectators recorded the incident and videos soon became viral online, which received immediate notice from SSP South and the Minister of the Interior. Then police carried out attacks and arrested the suspects.

The suspects were brought to the extra district and sessions Judge South Court today. Sudheer, the victim, was also present on this occasion. He identified both suspects, but said he was not aware that he had been called by court, only learning it through his lawyer today.

The court asked if he was under any pressure, Sudheer replied that he did not want to pursue the case and had forgiven the suspects. He also said that he would have no objection to the judgment the court meets.

The defendants’ lawyer said the charges that were leveled in the case were firm. However, the public prosecutor opposed the petition of bail and argued that the suspects were also booked in accordance with sections related to the issuing of threats and humiliating a woman who is not available violations. Following arguments from the lawyers, the court reserved its judgment on guarantee facilities for a few hours before rejecting the petition for both suspects.

Meanwhile, the judicial magistrate South Court has sent both suspects in prison for court decision. The court has applied for a status report from the investigative officer about the next consultation.
