The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has been so far removed over 900 bunkers made in the residual Kurram, while the warring tribes have also come to an agreement to secure highways crossing the district, KP chief minister Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said on Saturday.
Tribal leaders in the Kurram district on Saturday agreed on an eight-month peace deal in front of Eidul Fitr. According to a press release issued by Jirga, who ink the deal, the stem’s oldest in Qila Abbas Saddar to restore regional peace.
The statement said the Shia leaders in Alizai and the Sunni Muslim leaders in Bagan accepted a peace agreement to restore peace and establish tolerance in the area through mutual consultation. “
“The representatives of both sects agreed to set up a peace agreement for a period of eight months to prevent any kind of conflict in the area and try to improve the situation,” added it.
According to SAIF, KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s efforts to bring peace to the troubled district have begun to produce results. He clarified that the agreement to secure highways in Kurram is part of a previous peace agreement signed by conflicting parties in Kohat last year.
He said the primary goal of the agreement is to ensure the safety of the high-parachinary highway. “As part of the Kohat -Saden Agreement, Kurram is cleared for bunkers and weapons. After removal of the bunkers, the process of surrendering weapons begins,” he said.
Saif said it is important to eliminate bunkers and weapons for lasting peace in Kurram. “This is why chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur personally oversees all development,” he said.
