Islamabad:
Overseas Pakistanis and Minister for the Development of Human Resources Chaudhry Salik Hussain have raised the issue of passport blockages to overseas Pakistanis with the Ministry of the Interior.
In a letter to the Ministry of Interior, Hussain emphasized that this is a sensitive case that requires immediate investigation. He said, “Overseas Pakistanis are our assets and they should not be harassed.”
The Minister expressed his commitment to ensuring that overseas Pakistanis are treated fairly, announcing the creation of light desks in support of them.
Hussain’s intervention follows a letter from the office carriers of Pakistan Business Forum France, which complained about the passport block. The forum highlighted that the staff at Pakistani airports blackmailed bribery of up to RS500,000, forcing travelers to pay in exchange for accelerated processing of documents that they claimed could lead to unanswered flights.
Pakistan Business Forum France requested the minister to restore the confidence of the overseas Pakistanis who were concerned about the situation.
