Salman Agha Captain, Babar Azam Mohammad Rizwan Falling, Shadab Vice-Captain Pakistan Rejig T20i Squad New Zealand Tour

Pakistan has mixed cover chairs once again in an attempt to find the real T20 combination, dropping Captain Mohammad Rizwan as well as Babar Azam for the Five-Camp series in New Zealand. In the first team announced since Pakistan’s creepy exit from a home-masters trophy, there are several changes, including the return of Shadab Khan-and then appointed Deputy Captain and the award of the Captain to Rizwan’s Deputy Captain Salman Agha. On the ODD side of things, Rizwan retains his captain, but Shaheen Afridi has been dropped.
Mohammad Haris returns after an extended spell out of the national side, while Saim Ayub remains absent with the ankle injury he picked up in South Africa. Hasan Nawaz, the 22-year-old wicketkeeper, who has played only 21 T20s and has not yet appeared in PSL, is in the troop. Abdul Samad, the 27-year-old magnificent dough, who is also not yet playing PSL Cricket, comes in after a positive domestic T20 tournament showing. Quetta Gladiators Battery Omair Yousuf earns a call-up as Pakistan Pivot sharply away from slaughter with an established T20i stoveboard.

There are fewer changes in the bowling department with make-up about the same as for Pakistan’s recent T20i series in South Africa. Naseem Shah, who last played T20i’s against Australia in November, remains absent, while Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are part of the team. Spinner’s Sufiyaan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed retain their places while Khushdil Shah comes into the side.

While Aaqib Javed did not officially say this was the end of Rizwan as the T20i captain, it looks a lot on the cards after an unhappy, whose card, stint in the role. He led Pakistan as a full -time captain of only five completed T20i’s and lost them all. He was absent for the three T20i’s in Zimbabwe, where Agha led the team in their 2-1 series victory.

Babar’s absence also suggests that Pakistan is once again trying to break free from the Babar-Rizwan combination at the top of the order. The duo up-summit has polarized meaning almost as soon as the combination was created in 2020. Critics have panned them for being for risk-averages at the beginning of laps, but their reliability and consistency of running-up-coping, contrary to a frequent-misfire Middle order, has seen Pakistan continue to return to them.

The ODD troop does not include such drastic changes except the omission of Shaheen. He was Pakistan’s best bowler in their ODD series -victory in South Africa and Australia. Rizwan preserves the ODD captain and Babar is in the troop while Abdullah Shafique returns after being dropped for Champions Trophy, like Sufiyaan Muqeem. Left-arm Quick Akif Javed earns a Maiden Odi team choice.

Pakistan plays five T20i’s in New Zealand from March 16, followed by three ODDs.
