Samsung teases Project Moohan comes in the second half of 2025
The headset previously got a 2025 launch year
It doesn’t name Moohan directly so it could launch different hardware
We suspected Samsung’s project Moohan -headset, which it is working on in collaboration with Google and its Android XR platform, would arrive once in late 2025, and Samsung basically just confirmed that is the case.
During its recent Q1 2025 -Report Report, the tech giant shared details of its financial situation and, more importantly to us, information about its hardware releases planned for later this year.
It confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge would launch in the 2nd quarter – then sometime in the next few months – and revealed that it will “explore new products like XR” in the second half of the year.
While Samsung does not explicitly mention Moohan by name, in the past, more direct comments about the headset already teased that the device would land this year, so this statement is likely to refer to its launch.

What do I hope the Android XR Headsets will offer?
It is a bit frustrating that Samsung still has not yet given us a fixed release window that chooses a six-month timeframe teasing a launch once in the end of 2025.
So while we wait, let’s go over what we want to see from the headset when it eventually appears and what delicious supports these Android XR dreams.
Something tells us that this headset will not be cheap, with some early reports suggesting that Samsung is looking at something in the range of $ 1,000 / £ 1,000 / AU $ 1,500 (like Meta Quest Pro). So if it will be expensive, at least give us some impressive services and ability to justify costs.
I would love that this headset feels like a laptop laptop from a productivity perspective and as opposed to Vision Pro, it would ideally achieve this goal without you needing a MacBook added.
I will be able to navigate Google Workspace apps such as sheets and Drive, as well as third-party productivity apps that use mixed reality to help me work easier than if I just sat at my normal desk.

It must also be comfortable. I feel good about having a battery pack in my pocket to help trim some weight from the core unit because I want this headset to feel like I can carry it for hours without problems, rather than being a pain in my throat.
Fortunately, early testers have all claimed that the prototype is not too uncomfortable thanks to its adjustable straps and well -shaped face, so here the main product hopes also comfortable.
Next, I want this device to be a versatile machine. I don’t want it to be pigeon hole for productivity, entertainment or other XR use. I want it to be a jack-of-all trading like Meta Quest 3.
This means that it must have a wide range of valuable apps, which is important for any successful VR headset. It also needs a design that is suitable for wearing while you are at a desk or on your sofa, as well as while exercising and active.
So, in addition to being light as I touched on the above, it should use an easy cleaning material (like silicone) for parts such as its face interface rather than fabric so it does not absorb sweat.
We will have to wait and see what Samsung is up to the sleeve, but with its release date set for some time later in the year, it’s only a matter of time before we see the device in action and can decide if it’s the best XR device as I hope it will be.
