Eventually the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has arrived. The super-slim flagship was first teased on the Galaxy unpacked in January, but it is now officially revealed in a launch video sent to Samsung’s YouTube channel.
The Galaxy S25 Edge joins the Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in the wider S25 family, and it seems to rank among the best Android phones for aesthetic value alone.
We respond to the phone’s message in our Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Live blog, but below we have rounded up five things you need to know about the Galaxy S25 Edge, from its design specifications to its shelf life.
Surprise! Its super slim

Of course, given both its name and the official dummy devices, Samsung teased Samsung by unpacked and mobile World Congress, we knew the edge would be slim – and now we know how thin and light the phone really is.
The Galaxy S25 Edge measures only 5.8 mm at its thinnest point, making it far and away the thinnest galaxy phone yet. Standard Galaxy S25 measures 7.2 mm, while the S25 Ultra is a relatively chunky 8.2 mm, so the edge really marks a step up in terms of design.
Even more impressive, though, is the weight of the phone. The S25 edge weighs only 163g, which is almost identical to the standard Galaxy S25, but here you get a much larger 6.7-inch AMOLED screen. It is the same size screen that you find on the Galaxy S25 Plus, but the edge is 14% lighter and 21% thinner than the specific model.
It does not skimp on durability

The thinner you make a phone, the less durable it becomes, but Samsung has equipped the S25 edge with a number of impressive shelf life specifications.
Like the S25 Ultra, the phone gets a titanium frame, but unlike the rest of the Galaxy S25 line, the edge uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 (rather than Victus 2) on the back panel. This is essentially Samsung’s response to Apple’s ceramic shield on the iPhone, with ceramic crystals embedded in the glass itself to improve resistance to cracks and scratches.
Given its size and weight, it does not necessarily mean that the edge will be more durable than its siblings, but it is safe to expect comparable drop resistance across the S25 line.
As for water resistance, the edge gets an IP68 assessment and the phone is available in three colors with titanium theme: Titanium Icyblue, Titanium Silver and Titanium Jetblack.
Camera compromise

When it comes to cameras, the edge gets a 200MP wide lens, a 12MP ultra-lens and a 12MP selfie camera.
The elephant in the room here is that there is no telephoto camera to talk about, which is something you find on any other S25 model. But by equipping the edge with the same main camera as the S25 Ultra, Samsung has ensured that its latest flagship will still be a versatile shooting game that offers a 2x zoom of optical quality (via sensor crop) and strong low light performance.
The edge also gets 8K video recording features, and Samsung’s AI-powered Providable engine is ready to improve image quality, optimize the zoom and provide different photo editing features.
The same great power

On performance, and the S25 Edge boasts the same chipset and RAM specifications as the rest of the Galaxy S25 line. This means one for the Galaxy version of the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset, 12 GB of RAM and the full package of Galaxy AI tools.
You get Audio Eraser, Generative Edit and now maps right out of the box, and as we have come to expect, Samsung commits to a market leader seven years with us and security updates for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Battery life all day?

The big question about the Galaxy S25 edge was whether a super-slim design would come at the expense of the life of the battery, and it is difficult to say at this time whether that is the case.
The Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3,900 mAh battery, which is rather identical to the battery in the standard S25. When testing, that phone lasted us well over a whole day, but the battery at the edge you have to operate a much larger 6.7-inch screen.
Still, Samsung still promises the life of the battery all day from its new super-slim flagship, so we will have to put this claim to the test in our full review of the device.
In terms of charging, the edge of the 25W cable, 15W wireless and 7.5W gets reverse charging capacity. These are identical charging specifications for the S25 and S25 Plus, so even though the phone’s battery is a touch less than we would like, Samsung has not compromised when it comes to charging speed.
With a starting price of $ 1,099.99 / £ 1,099 / AU $ 1,849 is the Galaxy S25 Edge far from a cheap phone, but it is definitely an attractive suggestion for those who value style and portability above all else.
