- Samsung’s Galaxy S26 telephones could use silicon carbon batteries
- These could provide capabilities of up to 7,000 mAh, according to a new report
- Silicon Carbon -batteries appear to be the future of phone batteries
If you have not yet taken a Samsung Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S26 could be worth waiting for as it has been tilted to get a huge battery update.
A Korean-Language Report FNNEWS claims Samsung is considering a move to silicon-carbon batteries for its next generation of galaxy phones, which could see battery capacity jumping from 4,000 mAh and 5,000 mAh to 6,000 mAh and 7,000 mAh.
This lift in capacity would be relieved by replacing the graphite in the anode of a conventional lithium-ion battery and using the composite silicon carbide, enabling a less even more energy-tight battery as silicon may contain more ions than graphite. The use of silicon carbide rather than regular silicon also provides a battery capable of handling more power and higher tension than silicon, which has better thermal stability, all leading to a battery that is more powerful and efficient.
We’ve already seen silicon carbon batteries appear in new phones that you see in our Oppo Find X8 Pro Review. But the adoption of such battery technology, which may be expensive, has not yet found its way into Samsung, Google or Apple phones.
A new limit to Galaxy -Phones
I have been using the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra for a few weeks now, and although I have not been impressed with the life of its 5,000 mAh battery, I have not failed either.
But the continued increase in artificial intelligence (AI) -driven tools and features, and the increased ability to run on device rather than need support from the cloud means current and future smartphones could be more energy -hungry than ever before. Then there is the future relocation to 6G to consider, which, like 5G, could prove to be a drain on telephone batteries when undergoing persistent use.
So new ways to get more out of the same size batteries that we see in today’s phones could be the low -key next limit for smartphones. And if Fnnews’ report is accurate, Samsung could be one of the big brands that is at the forefront of this step, even if it will not be the first.
Given that the Galaxy S25 family has only just launched -with the phones that duly claim stains on our best phones and best Samsung -Phoots -it will be a while before we see the Galaxy S26. But some 12 months from now we can get a Galaxy phone with a battery life that thoroughly impresses us.
