- A leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro possibly has an “useless” new ultra -camera
- Most other specifications may not be improved
- This could mean the Galaxy S26 Pro is struggling to compete with iPhone 17
With each new Samsung Galaxy S model, there is the expectation that specifications will be improved, and although it is certainly the case with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, the latest leak suggests that its upgrades may be minimal.
According to the reputable Leaker @universeice, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will have a 1080p screen like Samsung Galaxy S25, and “The Telphoto is still the industry’s smallest 10MP sensor that has been used for ages.”
As far as upgrades are concerned, @universeice claims that the phone has a new 50MP ultra -sensor (up from 12MP on the Galaxy S25), but they describe this as “useless.” So megapixels aside, it may not be an improvement.
As far as I know, the biggest upgrade of the Galaxy S26 Pro simply adds the word “pro” to its name. The ultra-covering camera has been replaced with an useless 50MP sensor, the main camera uses a new model, but the size remains unchanged and Tele is still the industry … pic.twitter.com/qpin2sbwkqSeptember 11, 2025
They also claim that the main camera will change, but the size (presumably of the sensor) will not be.
Even if this leak is correct, of course, there may be upgrades elsewhere, but they add that “other than that is really nothing new,” so except for presumably a new chipset, there may not be much to see here.
Not much pro
In that case, it makes the rumor of the Samsung Galaxy S26 to Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro the more questionable and confusing as this phone sounds like it might even struggle to even match it iPhone 17, so much smaller iPhone 17 Pro.
As a reminder, the iPhone 17 has a 1206 x 2622 screen, which is higher resolution than the Galaxy S25S 1080 x 2340 one, and at the sound of this leak it is probably also higher resolution than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro’s will be.
The iPhone 17 also has a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra. It lacks the telephoto camera found on the Galaxy S25, but at the sound of this leakage, the Galaxy S26 Pro’s Tele snapper will not be up to much anyway.
Plus, with its A19 chipset, the iPhone 17 is more powerful than we expect the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro to be, and with upgrades to its update speed, two of its cameras may not be.
There is still hope for Samsung’s phone – especially since @universeice tends to take a quite negative overview of Samsung’s devices, whether deserved or not. But if it really has ‘pro’ in the name, people will expect a lot, and so far it doesn’t sound like this phone will deliver enough.
