It seems hard to believe, but it’s been almost six months since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Since launching, Samsung’s latest top-end-hand sets have continued to impress, keep stains on our lists of the best phones, best camera phones, best Android phones and more.
Now a handful of new rumors are pointing to some major upgrades to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could make the best Samsung Galaxy phone even more impressive.
Faster charging
The first suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could be launched with an increased maximum charging speed of 60W – for reference, Galaxy S25 Ultra charges of 45W.
According to user Erenyilmaz075, it is on X who managed to find references to 60W charging in what appears to be the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s unpublished firmware.
Compared to its western contemporary, the Galaxy S25 Ultra actually charges pretty quickly – we have previously reported that the iPhone 16 Pro Max had been registered as a drawing 28W during testing of ChargerLab, while Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is also evaluated for 45W.
However, many Android phones now offer very fast charging speeds. The OnePlus and Oppo phones benefit from the proprietary SuperoC technology, for example, which typically offers speeds of about 80W.
With the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is expected to inherit the same 5000mAh cell from the Galaxy S25 Ultra, I think a shock in power will be a worth and valuable addition to cut charging times significantly.
A thinner frame
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the latest in its line of collapsible phones – and it’s clearly just looking at the new handset that Samsung invested a lot in a new thinner design for its most expensive phone.
Another rumor suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be next in line with a slimmed redesign.
In a post for X (formerly Twitter), the remarkable Tipster Universeice (formerly known as the ICE Universe said, and now using the view name Phoneeart) said that the Galaxy S26 Ultra would enter “7.x mm”, down from 8.2 mm on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This may involve a reduction of 0.3 mm up to 1.2 mm.
Universeice also shared a reproduction of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, showing the largest three cameras contained in a Galaxy Z Fold 7-style residence, probably because the phone’s main body would be too thin to fit the cameras.

A new chipset
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chips, which is not yet unannounced, but is likely to be the most powerful chipset available to Android users when launched.
This can mark a division between the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Regular Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Plus, both of which are expected to launch with Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 chipset.
This was suggested after a firmware deeply dive of Sammobile and backed up by further comments from Universeice.
Oneui 8.5
The Oneui 7 was launched with the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S25 Ultra among them – but an UI 8 is already here, after launching with the new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 folding phones.
According to another report from Sammobile, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will instead launch with a UI 8.5, an updated version of Samsung’s current gene software.
This should allow Samsung to release the Galaxy S26 Ultra with some new features without committing to a full version update.
Given the rollout of a UI 7 was displaced over several months, Samsung can also be eager to avoid surrounding news about the Galaxy S26 series launch with news of a slow software release.
Upgraded cameras
As we’ve reported before, Tipes Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra to get some upgrades to its camera system.
Universeice has again suggested that the head sensor is getting a larger aperture and that the 3x tale camera gets a larger sensor. The tipster also suggested a larger aperture for the 5x telecamera.
