It has already been a busy year for Samsung. The Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra shelves shelves in January, and the brand new Galaxy S25 Edge is apparently just around the corner-but it seems that there is a rumor that Samsung fans are even more excited about.
For the past few months, we have heard more and more about a suspected Tri-Fold Samsung Galaxy phone, so far known as the Samsung Galaxy G Fold. Although Samsung has only given a brief hint of his multiple ambitions, tips and delicious have been unusually active in sharing tips and rumors of what could be the next new product line in Samsung’s mobile portfolio.
Although Samsung is not exactly the first telephone manufacturer to produce a tri-fold telephone-see the jaw-baptism (ly expensive) Huawei Mate XT-It has a solid chance of being the first to produce a globally available Tri-Fold phone. Huawei is prohibited from doing business in the US, so Mate XT won’t be released there soon.
And as the original pioneers in folded telephone technology, many fans will be looking for Samsung to take the reigning periods in the beginning tri-fold sector. We may be waiting for more official news for a while, but until then here is a Roundup of the five largest Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold rumors.
A whole new way of folding
As above, Huawei has already released his tri-folding mate XT device in certain regions, but rumors suggest that Samsung may be implementing an even more unique folding mechanism on G Fold.
While the hinges of the Mate XT are folded in two separate directions, with a cover screen that is technically only a piece of the inner display, G Fold could use a pamph-style form factor with two panels folding inward and lying on top of each other above the central panel.
This would certainly be a bold move, but Samsung’s official teaser galaxy-packed showed a Huawei-style silhouette rather than this booklet design, so the G-Folden may not necessarily be a first-of-Sin-stroke device.
An absolute huge screen
If the latest Galaxy Tri-Fold-Display rumors are correct, the phone comes with a really massive inner screen.
According to a report from Korean News Outlet et News, G Fold will boast of a 6.49-inch tire screen and a huge 9.96-inch inner screen. It’s almost as large as the basic model iPad, which clocks in 10.2 inches of diagonally, although the G-Folden probably has an inner screen with an even wider image ratio.
As a reference, the current Gen Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a 7.6-inch inner screen, while the class leading Oppo finds N5 Sports an impressive 8.12-inch screen. Remember that a wider image ratio means that you have more useful space for multitasking and video playback, although the rumored diagonal length of the G -fold doesn’t seem much longer.
In addition, a 6.49-inch co-screen would be the largest on a globally available folding phone that beats 6.3-inch coverage screens on the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, OnePlus Open and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Out with z, in with g g
As mentioned, Samsung may be able to place its Tri-Fold phone as the first device in a brand new product line, rather than the third model in the Z family, currently consisting of Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Several rumors have referred to the device as the Galaxy G-folded, which can reflect its new G-shaped folding mechanism or simply be a way of differentiating the phone from its Z fold contemporaries.
If these rumors vote, the name change could reflect Samsung’s desire to market the new phone as another class of the Unit for the Z Fold series, one that could be more appealing to corporate customers.
The larger screen, versatility and software knowledge of a Tri-Folding Samsung phone could make the device an appealing choice for businesses and professionals, and a new name could help Samsung appeal to this demographic.
Alternatively, Samsung might just want to play the news on his new device. It is worth noting that the unit during the first Galaxy-packed event in 2025 was referred to as “multiple” rather than tri-fold-but a new name, this time for the product category.
Brand new battery technology
One of the biggest challenges behind designing a folding phone is to develop a dough large enough to support three huge inner screens.
So far, foldable telephone manufacturers have chosen to divide batteries into two cells – one on each side of the hinge – but this brings disadvantages to the life of the battery as two cells are never as effective as a single cell of the same size.
However, Samsung has at least one patent on a new technology that can allayer this chronic coincidental problem.
Specifically, Samsung has a patent on a collapsible battery – it is a battery that can even be bent with the hinges of a folding phone.
Whether this idea would work in practice is another matter, as the batteries should be able to withstand thousands of bends to be sure enough to use.
Such a battery would also be bigger and heavier than a shared battery, so we are eager to see how Samsung tackles this problem.
A disclosure on Samsung Galaxy unpacked (but maybe not)
Within the holy halls of the rumor’s mill there is debate about when, exactly, the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold phone is launched.
A report from Korean News Outlet et News suggests that we will get an official message to the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold via the next Samsung Galaxy package that we would expect to happen sometime in the middle of the end of 2025.
If this turns out to be true we could see the Galaxy Tri-Fold advertised along with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
However, as we have covered before, a newer Tipoff suggests that the Galaxy Tri-Fold will not arrive until later in the year, although the tipster gave some context for this claim.
In any case, it is difficult to say when the tri-fold will be launched with such a shining lack of official information and rumors pointing in both directions.
If and when a Samsung Galaxy Tri-Fold phone is launched, it’s probably rocket to a place on our lists of the best Samsung phones and the best collapsible phones we have the latest updates through our dedicated Samsung phones.
