- Samsung Galaxy Watch users complain about reset of problems
- Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra users appear to be affected
- Users say their watches undergo a forced reset that requires the setup of the clock again
A number of Samsung Galaxy Watch users report that their Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra models continue to encounter a forced-reset problem that requires them to re-set their devices.
I was first warned about the question by the reader Spike, who reached out to me about a problem with their Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. Since the last update, they and other users have noticed that Watch 7 randomly interrupts the connection from the phone it is paired with, so that the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app does not recognize the clock, which requires a factory reset to re-pair.
“For me, this happens about once a week,” Spike told me. “I contacted Samsung who wanted me to send my watch, but I’m pretty sure it’s a software problem as many people on the forum have the same problem.”
Samsung Galaxy Watch reset problem
A Samsung Community Forum, shed by Techradar, is actually revealing an extensive thread of users who seem to suffer from this question.
“Without any obvious reason, my watch continues to make a forced reset,” said the original poster. “I have to go through the whole process of setting it up again,” they added, even mentioned that the latest hiccup completely changed some watch settings.
Other users chimmed in to say that they have experienced the same problem. “Me too. 3 times now in less than 2 weeks,” replied a user.
The thread is entitled ‘“Galaxy Watch 7/Ultra Reset’, which seems to indicate that this problem affects Samsung’s two best Android Smartwatches; it is unclear if it extends to other models.
The exact nature of the problem and its scope is a bit cloudy, but users certainly report sustained forced reset on their Galaxy watches, often several times a week. At least this requires users to review the installation process to connect again.
We have reached Samsung about the problem, but this is definitely a development question and one that seems to be pretty widespread.
