- An archiving for Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been viewed
- It appears that Qi2 -wire -free charging standard will be supported
- Magnetic connection, however, cannot be offered
There is no doubt that Magsafe’s convenience is on the best iPhones, which allows you to attach a wireless charger via magnets, but most Android phones have not yet caught up with the technology – and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will also miss.
An archiving for what is similar to Samsung’s next flagship, which was just appearing on Wireless Power Consortium, as discovered by 9TO5GOOGLE – this is one of the necessary step phones that has to go through before they are allowed to go on sale around the world.
Based on some model number of detective work, it seems to be the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it is set to be the first Samsung that is foldable to support the latest Qi2 wire-free charging standard. However, the Magsafe-like part of this support is likely to be missing.
In other words, you still need a third-party case to get the light snap-on, snap-off charging and accessories attachment method that Magsafe provides. It is a similar situation like the iPhone 16E that supports wireless charging, but not Magsafe.
The waiting game
It is perhaps no surprise that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will use a diluted version of Qi2 charging because the Samsung Galaxy S25 phones launched earlier this year use the same configuration we have seen in this leak.
We need to point out that the HMD -Skyline -phone, which was launched last year, has full Qi2 function set, including equivalent with Magsafe. Since it is currently the only Android hand set that supports the standard, you may be able to fight to find a charger.
In the end, this is something that will come to a wider range of Android phones – although it doesn’t look like this year will be the year. Maybe we may have some positive news when Google Pixel 10 appears.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 (which can offer the same Qi2 charging) is expected to be launched once in July – and one thing we know for sure about them is that they are going to run an UI 8.
