- Samsung is said to be developing a Brain Health feature
- It would watch for the early indicators of dementia
- We should hear more about that in the next few weeks
Our smartphones are capable of tracking a wide range of statistics and bits of information about us, and Samsung is apparently going to add something new to the mix: a brain health feature that looks for early signs of dementia.
We don’t know too much about this yet, as Samsung hasn’t officially announced it, but according to a report on Chosun Biz (via Android Authority ), the Brain Health service will be revealed at the CES 2026 show starting on Tuesday, January 6.
According to the report, Brain Health will track your voice, gait and sleep patterns to watch for indicators of cognitive decline. Data will apparently be collected both by your phone and by any Samsung portable device you have.
Clinical validation is apparently in the pipeline for this, although Brain Health won’t be able to definitively say whether or not you’re at risk of dementia – only that you may be showing some signs of it, which you should discuss with your doctor.
Prevention of dementia
The report says Brain Health will also include “enhancement and prevention features” to keep your brain sharp and reduce the chances of developing dementia in the future. A brain training program will apparently include e.g.
All sensitive data will be protected by Samsung Knox security, according to Chosun Biz, and data will be managed locally instead of being sent to the cloud. It seems likely that it will work alongside what Samsung Health already offers.
While the prospect of getting dementia is not something any of us want to think about, it does happen – and Brain Health sounds like it would be a useful way to detect it early, as well as exploring ways to keep cognitive decline at bay.
We’ll be covering all the news and announcements from CES over the next few weeks, and we should be hearing more about Brain Health—including when and where it’ll be available—in the near future.
