- Samsung Display soon starts mass -producing collapsible telephone screens to a North American client
- This client is probably Apple, which suggests the iPhone -Folden could land next year
- Thanks to previous leaks we have a good idea of what we can expect from the phone
At this point, most rumors suggest that the folding iPhone – or iPhone -fold as it might be called – launched next year, and now it looks even more likely as a surprising source has suggested as much.
You see, according to Chosunbiz (via Telefonarena), Samsung Display’s President Lee Cheong has said the company is preparing for mass products folding phone panels to a North American client.
Now this client is not named, but the obvious candidate is Apple, considering that the coincidental iPhone is rumored to land next year and considering that Samsung display already makes iPhone screens.
So this is perhaps the clearest sign yet that the iPhone -Foldet will actually land in 2026, but if it does, we would imagine that it will land in September 2026 with the iPhone 18 series, so there could still be quite a wait.
Impressive features for a premium price
Whether the iPhone -Folden will be worth waiting to see, but leaks and rumors have given us an idea of what to expect.
First, we have heard that it may use Touch ID rather than Face ID and that it could have a 24MP sub-display camera, combined with the lack of facial ID components-Kunne make this the first iPhone with a truly all-screen design.
The folding iPhone may also have a curly screen, with this folding screen that may come in at 7.74 inches and get together with a 5.49-inch tire screen.
It can be only 4.8 mm thick when unfolding, making it even thinner than 5.6 mm iPhone Air, and it can have two 48MP rear cameras – along with a selfie camera on each screen.
All of this is sure to get a high price, and although rumors disagree about the exact price tag, the latest we’ve heard is $ 1,999 (about £ 1,500 / AU $ 3,050).
So maybe waiting until next September on the iPhone fold is not such a bad thing, as it will at least give Apple fans plenty of time to save.
