A 45 member Saudi delegation arrived at Pakistan on Sunday to review events for the road to the Makkah project aimed at facilitating Pakistani Hajj pilgrims.

Officials from Pakistan Ministry of Religious Affairs welcomed the Delegation in Islamabad International Airport, where the project’s operations are set to be implemented, Express News reported

During the initiative, immigration procedures for Pakistani Pilgrims in Pakistan are completed before departure rather than on arrival in Saudi Arabia.

This year, about 50,500 Pakistani Pilgrims are traveling to Saudi Arabia under the road to the Makkah project.

About 28,000 pilgrims depart via Islamabad International Airport and 21,000 from Karachi International Airport, officials said.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs confirmed that 100 Hajj aircraft will work from Islamabad and 80 flights from Karachi during the project.

Dedicated immigration counters are created at both airports to facilitate pilgrims.

The road to the Makkah project, which was first launched in 2019, is part of Saudi -Arabia’s broader effort to facilitate the Hajj process for pilgrims from selected countries.
