Saudi FM arrives at Islamabad in the middle of Pakistan-India tensions

In the midst of escalating tensions between nuclear armed Pakistan and India, Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, arrived at Islamabad for an official visit after his stay in New Delhi, Radio Pakistan reported.

After his arrival, al-Jubeir was warmly received by the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan and senior officials from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry.

During his visit, Al-Jubeir met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two discussed a number of questions, including the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India.

Al-Jubeir is planned to hold further conversations with Pakistani leadership during his visit with a special focus on the escalating situation between the two neighboring countries.

Sources said the United States and Saudi Arabia emerged as two most important interlocutors between Pakistan and India. These efforts were more visible on Thursday.

While Saudi Arabia sent Al-Jubeir to New Delhi on an unannounced visit, US State Secretary Marco Rubio spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan and later called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

While he square New Delhi for the current crisis, Pakistan told the sources of the Saudi and American interlocutors that Islamabad had never wanted escalation in tension.

It is believed that Pakistan told these international players that the country wanted the international community to condemn Indian missile attacks aimed at innocent civilians.

The sources said Pakistan asked both the United States and Saudi Arabia that India has to repair its ways and will have to turn his decision to keep the treaty in monkey.
