Islamabad:
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi observed on Monday that some legal conclusions by giving bail to those charged in May 9, 2023, the violence cases were wrong. However, he ordered the lawyer of the Punjab government to rethink his plea for cancellation of the guarantee.
While hearing Punjab’s appeal against the guarantee of bail, the court suggested that the trial be asked to carry out the trial within three months and submit one every week of status to that Supreme Court.
The Punjab Government’s lawyer told the Apex Court that a brief about violence on May 9 had been prepared. The lawyer added that the trial had not decided the guarantee applications in accordance with the law.
Chief Justice noted that relevant material was still awaited and it was not yet submitted to the court. He also observed that if anyone accused abused bail, the law would take his way. He urged the lawyer to reconsider the pleas for cancellation of bail.
Separately, during the consultation of another case, the Supreme Court noted that the Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice wanted to send a message to the government about the referral to a judge sent and the administrative judge also agreed.
The Supreme Court said LHC’s decision would not affect careers for the prosecution and the judge Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Chief Justice Afridi further declared that he did not want to interfere with the authority of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court, while disposing of the appeals for the transfer of cases relating to the ATC Rawalpindi judge, maintained the introduction of a fine of RS200,000 per year. Appeal to the prosecution of Punjab.
