The Supreme Court in Pakistan has decided 8,174 cases and received 4,963 new cases over the past 100 days. In addition, Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has disposed of 40 complaints about the higher judiciary in its two meetings.
According to a press release issued by the Supreme Court in Pakistan, who outlined the 100-day legal performance under the leadership of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, SJC had investigated 46 complaints under Article 209 of the Constitution received against constitutional office holders. Of those, 40 had been disposed of while comments had been sought in five complaints and one sent for information.
Over the past 100 days, the Supreme Court has shown increased decision by deciding 8,174 cases while receiving 4,963 new cases. This reflects a positive shift in the judicial workflow in this case, where the decision has surpassed new archives, reducing backlog and ensuring timely justice, the SC release said.
This improvement highlights the impact of recent reforms, including structured rule -making, automation and streamlined procedures, contributing to a more efficient and responsive legal system, adding it.
The judiciary has implemented significant reforms to increase efficiency, transparency, accountability and accessibility in the justice sector. These efforts have focused on improving case management, facilitating litigation and lawyers and ensuring timely resolution of legal issues. An “Online Feedback form – Stakeholders’ commitment to legal reform” has been made available on the Supreme Court’s official website to collect insight and recommendations to strengthen the legal system.
