SC Granting Imran Khan Bail in Eight 9th May Case

On Thursday, the Supreme Court admitted guarantee to the vulnerable Prime Minister Imran Khan in eight cases relating to May 9th riots.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi asked Zulfiqar Naqvi two questions: “You must have read Lahore High Court’s decision. First, a final finding must be given in a bail?

The prosecutor for court said the prosecutor that observations made in guarantee cases are always of a temporary nature and have no influence on the trial. From 1996 to 2024, SC found in various decisions that observations in guarantee cases are temporary.

CJP noted that SC had given bail to Ejaz Chaudhry in a case on May 9, despite accusations of conspiracy and sought clarification on this decision, the prosecutor replied that the case was different from IMRAN KHANS.

Chief Justice replied, “You have to prove how this case differs from those earlier.” Justice Shafi Siddiqui added that Ejaz Chaudhry had been accused of presence on stage and conspiracy. Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi asked if Ejaz Chaudhry was actually present on May 9th. The prosecutor said electronic evidence showed Chaudhry’s presence.

Chief Justice then asked, “What proof do you have against the PTI founder?” The prosecutor replied that three testimonies had been presented as evidence and claimed that the PTI founder played a key role in all cases.

When the hearing was resumed after a short break, the prosecutor tried to argue for the benefits of the case.

However, CJP Afridi noted, “We do not allow arguments for the profits. You can only answer legal questions about the conspiracy tax.”

ISPR DG says 9 May, as the perpetrators will face the law
