SC to hear a review

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court has set aside a review petition filed by PTI founding chairman Imran Khan against the termination of his right of defense in a Rs 10 billion defamation case. filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Ayesha Malik will take up the case on March 6 during the coming judicial week. Justice Hashim Kakar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will be part of the bench.

During the earlier hearing, the Supreme Court had adjourned the trial and issued notice to the Prime Minister through his lawyer.

Earlier, both the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court had upheld the decision to opt out of the PTI founder’s right of defense in the Rs 10 billion damages suit.

The PTI founder now moved a review petition challenging the decision to terminate his right of defence.
