Scottie Scheffler showed exactly what the third round of golf tournaments is called “Moving Day” on Saturday.
Scheffler owns a three-stroke lead in the PGA championship at Quail Hollow after shooting 65 to get to 11-Under for the tournament on the way into the final round on Sunday.
Scheffler was called throughout the third round, which included one of his best shots of the tournament: Running the Green on the 15th and setting up for a light eagle put. With three birdies also added on the map, Scheffler went into the clubhouse with a well -known position on the leaderboard on a major.

While Scheffler’s 6-Under round was impressive, Sweden’s Alex Norén 5-Under released his place in the last mating Sunday with Scheffler of 8 below.
Tied to the third are JT Poston and Davis Riley at 7 under, while Liv Golf Star Jon Rahm has found his stroke again in majors after sending 4-under Saturday to sit on 6-under for the tournament.

Jhonattan Vegas is also 6-Under, but he could have been able to win it all if it hadn’t been for his 2-over-performance on Saturday.
The Venezuelan was the leader for two rounds, most due to his 7-under start on Thursday. But four bogeys on the map compared to two birdies fell down the top list with a lot of work to do on Sunday if he wants to win his first career major.

But all eyes will be at Scheffler, who goes into Sunday in the hope of winning his first major outside the Masters. While he is the biggest golfer on the planet, and his season 2024 saw him wear another green jacket and win the FedEx Cup, he has not yet won the PGA championship, the US Open or Open Championship.
And of course last year’s PGA championship in Valhalla was a crazy start after he was arrested and tried to enter the Louisville-based golf club. Prosecutor would eventually be dropped, but Scheffler was booked, stretched and heated in a prison cell and returned to the course in time to play.
Scheffler is well past that incident, but the point still stands: He has not won a major outside the framework of the Augusta National Golf Club.
