Just a few years ago, Arch Manning was one of the most recruited high school players in the nation and eventually decided to take his potential and high profile last name to Austin.
After experiencing limited playing time while backing up Quinn Ewers in his first two years in Texas, Manning opened his first season as a full -time starts this past weekend.
He finished Saturday’s 14-7 loss to Ohio State with 170 passing yards, a touchdown and an eavesdropping.
More scouts and more than a dozen representatives from a number of NFL teams allegedly participated in the game to get a close look at the one-time projected # 1 election in next year’s draft.

Manning’s performance triggered a host of reactions in which a scout admitted that they had difficulty watching the game.
“Honestly, it was a little hard to see,” the named scout told Fox Sports.

Hype around the arch, nephew of NFL Greats Peyton and Eli Manning and the grandson of New Orleans Saints legend Archie Manning, escalated when the 2025 season came closer. The scout suggested that the expectation and hype were ultimately a bear service for Manning.

“Honestly, it was a little hard to see,” the scout said. “He has just been hyped so much. Almost whatever he did, he couldn’t have fulfilled these expectations. But I will admit that I thought he would be better than he was.”
Monday, Manning recognized his performance and said, “I have to play better.”
Another talent evaluator gave Manning a more forgiving review that highlighted the “very good” talent of Buckeyes’ defensive Backfield. Other scouts took a waiting-and-see approach and noticed it was still “too early in the process.”

Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly offered an optimistic review of Manning’s Day in Columbus, Ohio, where he said he was “actually encouraged” by his performance.
“He has shown improvement in more key areas. He has become better at seeing the whole field. He is better at going through his progress and delivering more precisely on his 2nd and 3rd reading. And he is much better at feeling pressure,” Kelly wrote on X. ” eye on, his eyes “.
