Quetta: A search operation is underway to regain Ziarat -assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son, who were abducted one day earlier during their visit to the tourist site Zezri, the charges said Monday.

Unidentified gunmen had kidnapped AC, his son, gunman and driver on Sunday – but later released the two latter two.

According to Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Zakaullah Durani, assistant commissioner had gone to a picnic point as the attackers held them with their gun and driver, with gun, The news reported.

The kidnappers later released the gunman and the driver, but removed the assistant commissioner and his son and fled from the stage after torching the official vehicle.

Security forces and local administration cut off the area and began a search operation, but no breakthrough in the recovery of the abductions has been reported.

It is worth noting that two months ago, assistant commissioner Tump, Mohammad Hanif Norzai, was also kidnapped.

The alleged kidnapping comes as Balochistan, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been exposed to brown by increased terrorist incidents that the country is witnessing in recent times.

Both provinces share a border with nearby Afghanistan and have been subjected to infiltration attempts from terrorists.

Last week, security forces shot down 47 Indian-supported terrorists during separate Zhob operations trying to infiltrate through the border between Pakistan-Afghanistan.

According to a report published by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based think tank, the country witnessed 78 terrorist attacks during June, resulting in at least 100 deaths.

Among those killed were 53 security staff, 39 civilians, six militants and two members of local peace committees.

A total of 189 people were wounded, including 126 members of the security forces and 63 civilians.

In total, the violence and operations led to 175 deaths in June – among them, 55 security personnel, 77 militants, 41 civilians and two members of the Peace Committee.
