SEC approves trade with Ether ETF settings

Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) gave green light to trade in options tied to ether (ETH) Stocked Funds (ETFs).

On Wednesday, the regulator approved an archiving from Nasdaq Ise, which was filed last July, asking to list option contracts on Blackrocks Ishares Ethereum Trust (ETHA). The options are a popular trading vehicle to utilize and hedge risk and are especially attractive to institutional investors who want to control large quantities of shares.

The Commission had until today to make a decision. James Seyffart, ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, said the approval was “100% expected.”

The options apply specifically on Etha, which means that Blackrock’s product is the only place ether ETF on which the settings can be traded.

Other funds are listed on the New York Stock Exchange’s Arca and CBOE.
