Security agencies conducted full-scale counter-terrorist exercises at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Maches to begin in two days.
The exercises, entitled “Operation Safe Evacuation”, simulated emergency scenarios and involved police, military, rangers and elite strength together with rescue services and bombing. The exercises were led by SP Security Abdul Wahab and monitored by SP Model Town Ikhlaq Tarar.
Security officials tested rapid response tactics for potential threats and ensured coordination among forces. The plan includes a four-layer safety co-operative with over 10,000 officers deployed during the tournament.
Meanwhile, the ICC security officials expressed full confidence in Pakistan’s security preparations and confirmed that the measures meet international standards.
