Security forces on Sunday killed five terrorists belonging to the Indian-backed group Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat district, the military’s media wing said in a statement.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted the IBO on March 15 after receiving reports of the terrorists’ presence in the area.
“During the execution of the operation, our troops effectively engaged the Khwarij locality and after an intense exchange of fire, five Khwarij were neutralized,” the statement said.
The ISPR added that arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists who had been actively involved in several attacks in the region.
The statement said a decontamination operation is underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khwarij in the area as part of the relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam.”
“Security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan will continue at full speed to eradicate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it added.
