Resignation Season 3 is possibly the first and Last thing on the fans’ mind after the hugely popular Apple Shows Season 2 final. On the one hand, I suppose we need a day or seven to treat what went down in the last episode of the series. On the other hand we are all desperate to learn what will happen next time
Fortunately, the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series returns (read more about it in this article’s release date section). I can’t say where the story goes from here, but darn it if I don’t want to try to answer these questions anyway!
Below you will find the latest information and rumors about Resignation‘s third season. It includes my thoughts on when it is released, its probable role crew and more. Full spoilers follow before Resignation Season 2, so make sure your ‘Outie’ and ‘Innie’ continues with equal levels of caution.

Resignation Season 3 has not come into full production yet but Apple officially announced another season of Resignation Just hours after its ancestral final.
Before Apple renewed it, the director/executive producer Ben revealed that the work was underway on Season 3’s manuscripts. Given that is the Show that everyone has been talking about so far in 2025, I would have been stunned if it was canceled.
Even with Season 3 announced, there is no word about when filming can begin. Prior to Season 2 final, Dichen Lachman, who plays Gemma/MS. Casey, delivered a disappointing film update on Resignation Season 3 by telling me she was “in the dark” over a possible start date.
But with the main herd and the crew that gathered for a final event after the season in LA on March 22, we may be learning more soon. In fact, talking about the new Heights podcast suggested Stiller that the plan for Season 3 would be revealed in the near future, so here hopes that an official announcement and filming date will soon be confirmed.
So when can season 3 launch on one of the world’s best streaming services? Stiller hopes that unlike season 2, which was shot in the middle of Pandemic and 2023 Hollywood strikes, it will not take three years to make. Even with the best intentions DVS. Everyone’s calendars, who set up perfect, main photography, starting for a while in 2025, etc., however, I do not see that it will arrive until early until mid-2027.

Some of the above character’s returns depend on where the story goes next time. I am discussing Season 3’s potential plot later, but all up to and including including Doctor Mauer will probably be back next season. The last quarter’s performance is related to Resignation‘s continued exploration of the real world and Lumon Industries’ mammals that care for and optics & design departments.
There is a season 2 character that will not be back for more, and it is Ólafur Darri Ólafsson’s Mr. Drummond. He was accidentally killed by Mark in Season 2 section 10.
Mark’s ‘Outie’ unexpectedly shot drummond in the neck as they crossed the cut barrier in the elevator that led to Lumon’s test floor. He did it because Mark’s ‘Innie’ held Drummond as hostages – with gun, FYI – as they fell into the elevator. Unfortunately for Mark (and Drummond), the transition between Mark’s two people causes mortality. Unless Lumon has a way to bring people back from the dead, Ólafsson’s time is at one of the best Apple TV+ exhibitions over.
Severands season 3 story speculation

Resignation Season 3’s Plot Synopsis has not been revealed yet. Based on what happened in the Season 2 final, however, I can wonder where things will go next time.

From this point I guess where the story goes from here, so here’s your last warning: Full spoilers immediately follow before Resignation Season 2’s finale. Potential Season 3 -Spoilers are also discussed.
The biggest question about everyone’s mind is what Helly and Mark S will do next. Instead of leaving Lumon too well with Gemma, Mark’s ‘Innie’ decided to stay with Helly. The couple then ran to an unknown place when a broken Gemma looked through the output door’s small window.
Helly and Mark S cannot leave the cut floor as their ‘Outies’ – Helena Eagan, daughter of Lumon CEO JAME and Mark Scout – would take over. Logic would therefore dictate that they would find a place to hide. However, they are on Lumon’s grass course, so there is not really everywhere they can hide from it all that is evil, malicious biotech company.
If they are found and punished, they will not be the only ones facing disciplinary action. Dylan G, the second remaining member of the Macrodata Refinement (MDR) -Team, helped Helly and Mark S in the Season 2 final. He helped trap cut off floor manager Seth Milchick in MDR’s bathroom, so he is also in line for some form of punishment.
Milchick is similarly up to the proverbial chopping block. Almost everything that happened in the Season 2 final, entitled ‘Cold Harbor’, happened on his watch. This is not the first time the MDR team has put a wrench in Lumon’s works in Milchick’s time as MDR’s boss, so I think his time as their manager might come to an end.
Outside of Lumon’s walls, an emotionally broken Gemma will probably seek out Mark’s sister Devon, plus her husband Ricken as they are the only family we know Gemma has.
If she is reunited with them, she will probably also encounter former Severed Floor Manager Harmony Cobel. The quartet could formulate a new plan for rescue marking and/or find a way to permanently get ‘innies’ out of lumon as well. Could they record Asal Reghabi’s help to reintegrate Gemma? It is definitely an option, especially if Cobel has any insight into what can make the procedure more successful and/or less painful.
There are plenty of other important questions that need to answer as well.
Will we see Irving Fogf again? If so, he will ever be reunited with Burt after they parted in Resignation Season 2 section 9? Could they be proverbial jokers in the package in terms of reducing Lumon if Gemma and co. Ask them to return to their former employer?
Then there is Harmony Cobel yourself. Season 2 section 8 revealed four great things about her, including that she is the original creator of the severance procedure. Will she use it to her advantage to try to force Jame Eagan, Lumon’s CEO, to step down? Would she replace him if he does? How would Helena Eagan respond to this and/or all that happened in last season’s final if Lumon removes Helly R from the severance floor and allows her ‘Outie’ (being Helena) to come again?
As for Lumon himself, there are several unresolved mysteries left to explore.

I can imagine that there will be some who are left to the viewer interpretation, but creator Dan Erickson, Stiller and co. will have to give answers to some of them. I wouldn’t mind if some of these answers prove some big fan theories right. One of the top five Resignation Season 2 After all, goat theories were proven in season 2 sections 10.
So what mysteries need to be solved? The most obvious is why Lumon conducts severance -based experiments and what its final goals are with them. However, there is much more, including the latest walking around Kier Eagan’s Grand Agendum. What is it? Why have we never heard of it before? And how does that include in Lumon’s cult-style cult?

Has Apple confirmed if Severance Season 4 is on the way?
No. As I mentioned earlier, Resignation Season 3 has not even entered into full production yet, so any talk of a fourth season is wishful thinking.
It is unclear if there will also be a fourth chapter. In a speech with Techradar ahead of Season 2’s release, Erickson said he “has a sense of how the show will end and how many seasons there would be” ideal “to reach his conclusion. However, Erickson and the rest of the show’s Chief Creative Team want to be” flexible enough “to tell Resignation‘s story across as many seasons as it will take.
I’m sure Apple wants its most popular TV -Original since Ted Lasso To run as long as possible as well. Of course, no one wants it to play out its welcome, but Apple TV+ has not had many breakout hits. Safe shows like Resignation Stay around for a while and keep customers using their cash on Apple TV+ subscriptions make business meaning for the tech giant. Don’t be surprised if multiple seasons are green -lit with or after Resignation Season 3.
