Islamabad:
High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB) has approved the promotion of 36 officers from Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Police Service and Foreign Service to Class 22.
However, the campaigns for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officers have been postponed due to a residence order issued by Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The Board of Directors will gather Monday again to review campaigns in other service groups.
The HPSB meeting, chairman of deputy PM Ishaq Dar, was held in the Cabinet Division. PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also participated in Mooten as a member of the board together with the federal minister Ahad Cheema, establishment department secretary Inamullah Khan and Cabinets Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal.
During the meeting, the Board of Directors reviewed over 150 officers for promotion to class 22. Later, it approved the height of 19 officers from passports, eight from the police service and nine from the Foreign Service.
PAS -Officers promoted to class 22 include Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, Ambreen Raza, Ali Tahir, Usman Akhtar Bajwa, Muhammad Humair Karim, Syed Ataur Rehman, Musadiq Ahad Khan, Rashid Mahmood, Momin Agha, Nadeem Shake Ahmad Mangnejo, Dawood Muhammad Barach, Saadia Sarwat Jawaid, Asad Rehman Gilani, Ali Sarfraz Hussain, Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Nabeel Ahmad Awan and Ahmad Raza Sarwar.
Those from the police service promoted to class 22 are Ba Nasir, Ghulam Nabi Memon, Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Imran Yaqoob Minhas, Abdul Khaliq Shaikh, Shahzad Sultan, Zubair Hashmi and Muhammad Tahir.
The Foreign Services, which are promoted to Class 22, include Ahmad Naseem Warraich, Pakistan’s ambassador to EU Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Pakistan’s permanent representative of FN ASIM Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ueaus faary Sheikh, Syed Ahsan Razaa Shah, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ueaus Faary Shealhs Sheikh, Syed Ahsan Razaa Shah, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ueal Neaal Sheid Sheikh Sheikh Sheikh Syed Ahsanas Samaas Shavea’s Shaveaz T Tirmizi, nab, nab, nab, nab, nab, nab Munir, Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany Saqlain Sayedah and spokesman for foreign office Shafqat Ali Khan.
The official review for the promoted officers is expected within a day or two. This meeting marked the first HPSB session for almost one and a half years. However, due to the busy schedules for Dar and Bilawal, all cases were not reviewed.
The board meets again Monday to assess campaigns for five positions in the secretariat group, five in the Inland Revenue Service, two in the audit and the account service, and one in the Information Group and the Post Group.
Sources indicated that if IHC lifts the residence order after submitting a statement, the FBR officers’ campaigns will also be considered.
IHC sought statements from the FBR chairman and the secretary of the Prime Minister. The FBR chairman must confirm that no summary has been forwarded regarding the placement of the contractor in the administrative pool, while the secretary of the Prime Minister must confirm that no such summary has been received from the FBR chairman.
Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif changed the rules, enabling DAR to preside over HPSB for the first time.
Meanwhile, Bilawal attended the board meeting for the first time as a member.
