The Senate unanimously condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack targeted at a school bus in the Balochistan Province’s Khuzdar district that demanded the lives of several children.

Legislators felt the incident as inhumane and demanded rapid action against India-backed terrorist groups that allegedly operated in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Irfan-Ul-Haq Siddiqui and others talked about India’s role in supporting terrorism in Pakistan and called for fixed acts against external threats.

In his address, Senator Anwar UL HAQ Kakar emphasized the need to tackle the loss of innocent life and keep the responsible groups with extremist ideologies, especially those associated with India’s RSS and BJP, to encourage violence in Pakistan.

Senator Irfan-Ul-Haq Siddiqui also condemned the Khuzdar attack and said it was unimaginable that such violence could be inflicted on innocent schoolchildren.

He rejected any sympathy for the terrorists and called for crucial military act to eliminate the perpetrators. “I’ve spent my whole life with words, but I’m lost to words to describe the pure brutality of this incident,” Siddiqui said.

Senator Sherry Rehman ended up condemning the attack and called it an inhuman act.

She confirmed Pakistan’s unwavering attitude against terrorism and referred to previous anti-terror operations and the evidence of Indian involvement in terrorist activities.

Rehman emphasized that no dialogue should take place with those targeted at innocent civilians. “There can be no conversations with such violence,” she said.

Awami National Party’s Aimal Wali Khan condemned the brutality of children and compared it to a cruelty that “would not even be inflicted on animals.”

He criticized the sustained cycle of guilt and passivity and claimed that without proper implementation of policies as the national action plan, such tragedies would continue.

“For 50 years we’ve been waiting for the next event, accused others and moving on,” he said.

Khan also raised concerns about the neglect of Waziristan and other tribal areas and emphasized the lack of digital tools and basic infrastructure for children growing up in these regions.

“Our children grow up without basic digital tools,” he noted. He expressed frustration over the disrespectful language of a government official in Senate Committee and said, “We are not here to be offended.”

He called for the resignation of the official involved and emphasized that the question was not personal, but was about standing for the oppressed people in Waziristan and Pakistan as a whole.

VAWDA is looking for increased defense spending

Senator Faisal Vawda has called for a significant increase in Pakistan’s defense budget, which advocates the doubling of military personnel wages in response to increased security concerns, especially after the recent tensions with India.

In a Senate session, Vawda suggested that Pakistan prioritize defense spending on the national development budget with reference to the growing security threats facing the country. “We need to tighten our belts and reduce the development budget to increase defense spending,”

Vawda declared and called for the wages of armed forces to be doubled to reflect the gravity of the situation. With Pakistan’s recent reaction to India’s provocations – including the death of 285 Indian soldiers in border clash – Vawda emphasized that India’s larger military and historical aggression requires a strategic shift in the country’s defense priorities.

VAWDA also called for political entity and emphasized that the government and the opposition must work together to secure the country’s defense. “This initiative can only succeed if all political parties are united under a flag,” he added.
