Senate panel irritated over bureaucrat’s absence

Islamabad:

The chairman of the Senate Standing Committee for Industries and Production took a strong exception to the absence of industries and production secretary who warned about action against him.

A meeting of the committee, chairman of Senator Aun Abbas Bappi, expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of both the minister and the secretary.

Senator Danesh Kumar noted that this was the second time that the secretary jumped over the panel meeting and said, “If he does not attend, I will go out of the meeting.”

The committee chairman criticized the secretary and emphasized that neither the minister nor the secretary had participated. He announced plans to write to the Senate President and called for action against the secretary.

When he expressed frustration, he noted that the class 22 officer did not show little to no consideration of the committee. “We have the right to lead a privilege proposal against the secretary,” he claimed.

An official from the Ministry of Industries and Production informed the committee that the secretary attended an important meeting, which is why he was unable to be present.

In response, the committee chairman’s priorities are questioned and said, “What could be more important than this meeting? Committee members traveled from Karachi and Balochistan to participate in, yet failed the secretary, despite being in Islamabad, not appearing.”
