The family of PML-N Senator Irfan ul Haq Siddiqui has denied claims circulating on social media that the veteran has been put on a ventilator, confirming instead that he is undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for breathing-related complications.
Clarifying his condition on Monday, the family said that while Siddiqui’s breathing problems required a shift to the intensive care unit, doctors have not judged that ventilator support is necessary. They added that his vital signs remain stable and medical staff are closely monitoring his progress.
Rumors about the senator’s health began circulating earlier in the day, causing concern among party members and supporters. The family stressed that unconfirmed reports had created unnecessary alarm and asked the public to only trust information officially shared by relatives or medical professionals.
Siddiqui has been admitted to a local hospital in Islamabad for the past few days. The nature of the respiratory problem requiring treatment has not been disclosed.
