Karachi: On the second day of the Karachi Literature Festival, a panel discussion was held on the Constitution and the rule of law with the prominent politician and constitutional expert senator Raza Rabbani.
When he spoke to the occasion, Senator Rabbani highlighted the importance of revising the structure of the Constitution and addressing key issues of Pakistan’s state and its development since independence.
He pointed out that the 26th constitutional amendment is the latest amendment to the Constitution. “We need to focus on the basic question – what is the structure of the constitution? What is the role of the state of Pakistan and what has it achieved since its inception? “He asked.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s basic Father Quaid-E-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah imagined a liberal democratic state.
“However, over time, Pakistan became a security -focused state,” he said.
With reference to the 1973 Constitution as a significant performance with broad consensus, he said that the constitution itself was never changed.
The panel ended with a call to strengthen democratic institutions and restore the balance of power to secure civil supremacy and compliance with the rule of law in Pakistan.
Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) opened on Friday with a lively inauguration ceremony that marked the beginning of a weekend dedicated to literary expertise, thoughtful discussions and cultural enrichment.
The Three-Day Festival is organized by Oxford University Press Pakistan (OUPP).
With the shining names of literary stalwarts that dot the Saturday and Sunday plans, KLF promises to be the center of stimulating conversations, theater performances, book launches by writers in person and powerful dialogues exploring literature and society. This wonderful eclectic structure by navigating the literary mazes confirms KLF’s role as Karachi’s most popular platform for literary and artistic expression.
