Senior Attorney Khawaja Shamsul Islam was shot to death in Karachi’s defense area on Friday, police say.
The lawyer’s son, Daniyal, was also injured in the attack and was moved to a hospital with his father who succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.
The incident took place at a mosque in DHA -Phase VI, where Islam had gone to participate in the funeral prayer from Trader Muzzammil Paracha.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire during the funeral, critically wounded both father and son, police said, adding that further probe is underway.
When Sindh Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar was aware of the murder, SSP South instructed to submit a detailed report on the initial police actions taken after the incident.
He also instructed the police team to be mobilized for the immediate arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting and sought minute to minuto.
