- Sennheiser has announced an independent boom mic accessories
- It’s compatible with a selection of headphones
- Targeting players and for work it costs $ 59.95 / £ 39.99
Players who swear by Sennheiser’s sound are pleased! The Audiophile brand has revealed the HD 500 BAM, a boom arm microphone that can transform a number of its headphones into a gaming headset -or something perfect for productivity when working from home.
Players like me who have wished for an “all sennheiser” solution or the opportunity for games will now have a real means of forming a Sennheiser game headset of kind.
Recognizing what the lack of a microphone meant for such players so far, the Audiophile Project Manager said Klaus Hanselmann that: “Players have praised the extended comfort and immersive to listen to their 500-series headphones, but the lack of a microphone setting meant compromise”.
The microphone itself is a “10mm electrical capacitor capsule with a cardioid pickup pattern” and Sennheiser says it will deliver “unique voice clarity”. Price for $ 59.95 / £ 39.99, it’s a pretty affordable addition to an existing headphone setup and could be the missing piece that audiophiles have been looking for.
I’ve been using the HD 500 BAM for just over a week now, combined with my Sennheiser HD 550S. It’s a simple plug-and-play solution that replaces the existing cable with one that offers a Y-splitter for use with a sound card or Combi-Jack connection to go straight into a controller, for example.
Performance has been predictably robust with my voice traveling sharply and clearly, whether it is a meeting or an intense match online. Its simple microphone button and volume wheel combination of control on board means that there is no overcomplication here when it comes to using the microphone. As a high quality means keeping my HD 550s for Multiplayer games, it turns out very skillfully as a game product.
It feels like Sennheiser is a bit testing the waters again, which is incredibly exciting, considering the brand’s absence in the game area since the company’s gaming arm first turned into epic and then disappeared completely.
Until then, the HD 500 BAM represents the easiest solution for those who are currently juggling with multiple devices, but those who simply want to use and enjoy their compatible Sennheiser headphones as much as possible for games.
HD 500 BAM is compatible with the following headphones:
- HD 505
- HD 550
- HD 560s
- HD 569
- HD 599
- HD 599 SE
- HD 620s
The microphone is also out now, and when it appears at retailers, you will see the latest prices of what ends up for compatible headphones below.
