- Adjustable channels to 3D -Defense Sound
- Hi-Res Audio via Tidal Connect and Google Cast
- New dialogue improvement mode
Sennheiser’s flagship Soundbar, Ambeo Max, gets a larger firmware update called Ambeo OS2, which was to deliver a serious sound upgrade to what is already a very impressive sound bar.
This is the most important upgrade since Sennheiser Ambeo Max launched back in 2019, and it holds the soundbar stream with newer advanced examples of the best sound beams from Sony and KEF.
There are three key components for the upgrade. There is customizable 3D sound; Extended Hi-Res lossless sound performance; And a voice improvement state to deliver better vocal clarity in movies, TV shows and sports.
Sennheiser Ambeo OS2: What’s new and how to get it
OS2 delivers adjustable volume levels to the side, virtualization of the upper and middle channel, enabling you to finish 3D sound to fit your room and your own personal preference.
The existing Dolby Atmos music at Tidal has been supplemented with audio up to 24-bit/192kHz via Tidal Connect. And you can now stream with up to 24-bit/96 kHz via Google Role Crew to Sound.
Last but not least, there is a new voice improvement state that Sennheiser says “ensures that the dialog stays clear and understandable, even when sound effects or music dominate the mixture”. I wonder how it will cope with Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
Ambeo Max owners can get the new upgrade in two ways: via the Smart Control app on iOS or Android or by downloading it to a USB drive from sennheiser-haring.com.
This is obviously good news for Ambeo Max owners. But I think it’s worth noting for potential Sennheiser Soundbar buyers as well, as a company that delivers an update of this significant after five and a bit of years is a pretty impressive commitment to its customers.
