Serena Williams Have cleared the air on her controversial Super Bowl -Pause performance and revealed in an interview this week that her dance during Kendrick Lamar’s performance was by no means a tomb on her ex, Drake.

Williams, 43, found themselves in the center of controversy after Super Bowl Lix In New Orleans, after millions of viewers saw her going on crip -walking during Lamar’s performance of “Not Like Us”, a dissect that was aimed at Lamar’s rival and Williams’ ex, Drake.

Some questioned the dance itself because of its gang attachment, and others raised questions about why Williams, who are married to two children, would aim for an old flame.

During an interview with Time Magazine, Williams, who was named the 100 most influential people in 2025, said that her participation was by no means intended to throw shade on her ex.

“Definitely not,” she said during the interview.

“I would never do it. And it was sad that someone would ever believe it. I respect how they could. Of course, it can see how someone would believe it. But definitely not. I have never had negative feelings towards him. We have known him for so many years.”

Serena Williams Sparks Social Media Meltdown Dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ in the middle of the story with Drake

Among Williams’ most notable critics was ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith, who said he would divorce his wife if she “trolled her ex.” Williams saw the comments, but told time he was entitled to his opinions.

“I thought it was fun,” she said. “He is allowed to have his personal opinion. But did you see my husband’s remark? It was so eloquent.”

Williams’ husband, Reddit co -founder Alexis Ohanian, defended her in a post on social media and said, “Some of you have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance on Wimbledon 13 years ago, and it shows …. this is bigger than the music. ”

The 23rd time Grand Slam champion said she was thinking back on her participation, don’t know if “I regret it or not.”
